This ranking is designed to find the best Doctorate in Business Management degrees available. A list of over 180 schools was obtained, and doctorate and PhD programs were analyzed first on their business and management focus, and then by the following factors:

Accreditation (20%): Institutional and business accreditations give proof of the high standards an organization has achieved in their delivered and research education. These accreditations verify the value of the curriculum and even affect a degree’s brand recognition. Each program in this ranking is accredited by one of the six regional accrediting organizations recognized by the US Department of Education.

Additionally, each doctorate program was assessed on whether it holds a third-party business accreditation from one of the top business school accrediting institutions: IACBE, ACBSP, and AACSB. This accreditation ensures that the top business and management curriculum standards are upheld. AACSB is widely regarded across the world as the gold-star standard of business accreditation, thus the schools that hold this accreditation are given the highest scores. Twenty percent of the final ranking score is calculated from this figure.

Affordability (20%): Tuition costs directly affect accessibility and return on investment. Each doctorate program was evaluated on the estimated total base tuition for the entirety of the program, with the exception of programs that only offer all-inclusive rates. Data was gathered from the most recent financial information given on each program or school’s website. It is interesting to note that over half of the doctorate programs in this ranking offer programs that cover the tuition cost for admitted students. Twenty percent of the final ranking score is calculated from this figure.

Based on the base tuition data of doctorate programs, each program was then given an Affordability Score:

National College Prestige (20%): This data was collected from one of the most prestigious sources in educational rankings, US News and World Report. Each program was ranked on their score within the US News and World Report’s National University Ranking. Twenty percent of the final ranking score is calculated from this figure.

Regional College Prestige (20%): This information was collected from one of the most prestigious sources in educational rankings, the Princeton Review. Each program was ranked on if they were included in one of the Princeton Review’s 2018 Best Regional Colleges Rankings. Twenty percent of the final ranking score is calculated from this figure.

Business School Prestige (20%): This data was collected from one of the most prestigious sources in educational rankings, US News and World Report. Each program was ranked based on their score within the US News and World Report’s Best Business School Ranking. Twenty percent of the final ranking score is calculated from this figure.

All of the data for each school was collected, weighted equally, averaged, and the aggregate score was calculated on a 100-point scale. This score is the TMD Ranking Score, which provides the ranking order for this list.
